Upcoming TYPO3 Events in 2017 and 2018

The summer holiday season is finally over and so the TYPO3 events season is in full swing. Take the chance, participate in one and make new friends and meet old ones. So take your time on and think about a trip to one and / or another event.

In the last weeks the TYPO3camp in Munich made the start as every right at the end of the bavarian summer school holidays. The last days where “dominated” by the TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days. But don’t bother, there are many many other events coming.

Outlook to TYPO3 Events in 2018

After a “short christmas break” there are three events in the first quarter of 2018.

TYPO3camp Mitteldeutschland (Dresden, Germany)

This TYPO3camp is a newcomer! For the first time a TYPO3camp is taking place in Dresden. It is organized by the TYPO3 usergroup Dresden. The location is the “Deutsches Hygienemuseum” right in the center of Dresden between the “Frauenkirche” and “Großer Garten”.

So it’s (also) up to you to make it a great event! Grab a ticket (if available), bring your personality and nice topics :-)

Date: January 25th – 27th, 2018
Website: http://www.typo3camp-mitteldeutschland.de/
Tickets: Sale not started at the time of writing. Check their website

TYPO3 Snowboard Tour 2018 (Canazei, Italy)

If you do not get enough from the TYPO3 community, you can afterwards just head over to the beautiful scenery of the dolomites and join the TYPO3 Snowboard Tour. The cool thing about the snowboard tour is that it is not only about sports, but also about code. Many concepts and ideas derived from this combination.

Date: Jan. 27th – Feb. 3rd, 2018
Website: https://t3board18.typo3.org/
Tickets: https://t3board18.typo3.org/registration/

TYPO3camp Venlo (Netherlands)

An international TYPO3camp is again organized in Venlo (Netherlands). The thing I like about this camp is, that it is advertised as an “international” camp, so the main language is “english”. This means that it is inclusive to all, not only to the local residents. (Too bad, that I did make it there, in the last years).

BTW: Tickets are already available. If you book until Dec. 31st, you will get early bird prices, which means a discount of about 30%.

Date: March 8th – 10th, 2018

Conclusion

You should really attend at least one TYPO3 event within the next year. Why? Wolfgang Wagner writes about the reasons here: “What you gain by taking part in TYPO3 events

Looking at the locations and dates, there should be at least one, which you can visit regarding the distance. If not, there are two possibilities:

Wait

Wait for the upcoming events in 2018 and make it a “good intention” for 2018. There will be many more events, like camps, developer days or maybe other new event formats.

Join a usergroup

In many regions there are usergroups, which deal with TYPO3 topics on a regular (mostly monthly) basis. A (not complete) listing is here: https://typo3.org/community/typo3-user-groups/If no group in your region is listed there, you can ask on Slack whether somebody knows something about a group near you.
